Get a free, unlimited-use Gurobi Optimizer license for a single person, on a single machine. After registering and logging in, visit the Download Gurobi Optimizer page to download your Gurobi Named-User Academic License. Your license will be valid for up to one year and is renewable for as long as you maintain eligibility.

Run Gurobi Optimizer where you want, across container environments. To create your free Academic Web License Service (WLS) license, register and sign in for a Gurobi account as an academic, and then visit the Web License Manager site. Your computer must be connected to a recognized academic institution network when the request is made. Your WLS license will be valid for 90 days and is renewable for as long as you maintain eligibility.

Share Gurobi with multiple users in your academic departments, schools, and classrooms by running Gurobi on your university’s local-area network, at no cost to you or your institution. To obtain this license, ask your network administrator to submit a case at https://support.gurobi.com and ask for an Academic Site License Request Form. Once the form has been submitted and approved, we will send instructions to your administrator detailing how to obtain and set up the license file.

Requirements
- Must be a faculty member, student, or staff of a recognized degree-granting academic institution.
- Can be used for research, educational purposes, or industry consulting projects (requires Gurobi approval).
- Must be validated from a recognized academic domain.
- Licenses can be renewed for as long as you remain eligible.
- There is no limit to the number of free licenses you can obtain, but each license must be generated individually.
Gurobi for AMPL, GAMS, and MPL
Use your Gurobi Academic License with your existing AMPL, GAMS, or MPL license.
- For AMPL, detailed instructions can be found in the AMPL-Gurobi Guide. To purchase an academic license for AMPL, please contact us.
- For GAMS, please see the instructions for OsiGurobi and the professional Gurobi link on the GAMS website. To purchase an academic license for GAMS, please contact GAMS.
- For MPL, the academic version already comes with the Gurobi solver installed, so no additional configuration steps are needed. Free academic licenses for MPL are available via the MPL Academic Program.
